HISTORY

Gypsum Systems, Inc. (GSI) was incorporated in 1975 as a merit shop construction company. At that time, we had a field crew of 10 and an office staff of two, operating out of a small space on Ludwig Ave., in Cheektowaga, New York. At that time, our primary focus was light commercial drywall and residential housing.

During the early 1980s, as merit shop construction gained traction in Western New York, we grew to a field workforce of 70 and an office staff of four, and moved to West Seneca, New York.

In the early 1990s, responding to an influx of construction managers in the market, GSI began to focus on the commercial side of the business. Successfully completing projects that were both large and complicated brought us even more business. As we grew, we diversified from our drywall beginnings to conventional lath and plaster, acoustic ceilings, access flooring, rough and finish carpentry, steel studs, exterior cold-formed metal framing, trim carpentry, and finish casework.

As the marketplace evolved, and bid packages became more complicated, Gypsum Systems established Conley Caseworks in 1993 to specialize in architectural millwork and custom casework. Both businesses relocated from West Seneca to Elma, New York. Shortly afterward, Conley Caseworks moved a short distance away to Conley Road, where it is located today, to meet its need for more manufacturing space.
